Brasilia 2
In the morning we visited the Rio Branco Institute, which is one of the oldest diplomatic academy in the world, established in 1945. After the meeting we went to a nice lakeside place to have lunch, where some guest arrived with their modest 10 meter long boats. During lunch I got the first cultural shock of the day when I saw a "lay-down" surfing, people were laying on their stomach on the surf and "swimming" with there hands. I heard about "stand-up" surfing, but that was something new for me. It could be regarded as a kind of survival sport, because there are some well-built 3-4 meter long caymans in he lake... Nice.
Second cultural shock was the discovery of the Parque da Cidade, which I imagined during my walk through the Eastern European type block-house and industrial site forest as a rubbish-facility with crack-zombies. But, it was a well maintained, huge park with a lake, geese and a lot of sportsmen running, cycling etc. A nice surprise.
Third cultural shock was that after two days of intense walking in the city and visiting 3 shopping centres, I have found a first grocery store, namely Carrefour da barrio.
The fourth, and until now the last, cultural shock formtoday was that in front of every lottery-shop there was an at least 10 meter long queue. Tomorrow I hage to find it out why...
