Buenos Aires 2.
In the morning I stated a bit under dressed. The sun was shining, however there was just 8 degree Celsius. I had brunch in the famous Café Tortoni, a sandwich with jamon cerrano, a lemon pie and a grapefruit juice. In the bread of the sandwich they put a lot of butter. This would be a "casus belli" in Spain. :-) I continued my walk to the Cabildo the antique house of the city's mayor, which is now a museum showing the history of Argentina's way to independence. After I walked to the famous bohemian district La Boca, known as well for its football club Boca Junior. I managed to enter into an inauguration of a modernist exhibition as well. Then I returned to the placa de Mayo and visited the cathedral, which is the former church of Pope Francis, where is the mausoleum of General San Martin, the hero of the independence fights in Chile, Peru and Argentina. In front of the cathedral we met with my friend Anita, and walked on the la Defensa through the San Telmo district to Puerto Madero. In San Telmo there are a lot of small 19. century houses, small places with flea-markets, alternative and antique shops. From there we arrived to Puerto Madera, a formerly neglected but now fully rehabilitated port with skyscrapers and fancy restaurants. Then we headed back to the Avenida 9 de Julio. At night we were shopping the ingredients for our dinner, prepared a spaghetti with tuna and opened a bottle of fine Argentinian red vine. It was a beautiful day!
