Mendoza
When last time I wrote to the blog I said "unfortunately I will have just one and a half day for Mendoza". The weather has tricked me. El Niño arrived on the back of a cold wave and brought 2-3 m fresh snow to the mountains of Andes, with which it blocked the rout crossing between Mendoza and Santiago de Chile. It is closed for three days already, and it is unclear whether for tomorrow it can be reopened. There are 1000 lorries waiting for trespassing and dozens of buses cancelled, passengers waiting. The bus companies suspending ticket selling for to Chile. It means that I had to change my plans. I rather start in the South of Chile and will visit in one week the lake sides and will arrive middle of next week to Santiago.
Mendoza is an interesting city, however not most beautify I have seen. It was destroyed by a devastating earthquake totally in 1861, this means that literally every building is young than 150 years old. The new city was built with lager parks and squares and wide streets, so in case of an other earthquake the people can fled to these places and will be saved by the collapsing building. Fortunately since then there was no other such a disaster.
I am living the house of family of a Mendozean friend of mine, Federico from Barcelona. They are treating me like a family member, sightseeing with me, going out for dinner and drink, preparing typical Argentinean grilled meats and having lunch at the family table. They were helping me (re)organising my trip to Chile as well. Tomorrow morning I will spend with looking for information, accommodation and transfer in South Chile. I hope next time I will already write from Puerto Montt, Chile into my blog.
