Today I had my "baptism of water", as it is called by the locals. In the morning I attacked the Argentinian side of the Iguaçu falls. The weather was not kind, the rain was falling, showering, pouring or dripping. But because I am a hero (just like Captain America), I decided to go to the tour. I joined to a group of stewardess of Singapore airlines and climbed up to the top of the falls :-) and went directly to the Garganta del Diablo, which is called the Devil's throat, because it swallows forever everything which falls in to it. I saw this yesterday from the Brazilian side, but today the Argentinian rout leaded us directly next to the fall. After we visited every smaller and bigger falls in Iguaçu, moreover we drove "into the fall" with a motorboat. Everyone shouted like a child from happiness and everyone got wet until its skin, but it was no problem due the relative warm temperature and the pouring rain. Tomorrow I am heading to Paraguay!

A mai napom (is) fantasztikus volt. Szervezett túra keretében először a csoport a Parque de Aves-be ment, ami egy madár-állatkert és rezervátum. Ennyi szép papagájt, tukánt, emut és egyéb madárféléket egy helyen én még nem láttam. Az ember feje fölött süvítettek a levegőben az arapapagájok, az Alexander papagájok és a tukánok, többük a hajamhoz is hozzáért. Egyikkel beszélgettem is, mondtam neki, hogy "olá", ő pedig lelkesen vissza is válaszolt, hogy "olá". Külön fájuk volt a fogságból vagy állatcsempészektől kiszabadított madaraknak, melyek közül sokan megsérültek és röpkeptelenek. De attól még ugyan olyan hangosak. :-) Nagyon nagy élmény volt.
Innen mentünk át az Iguaçu vízeséshez. Itt adagolták az élményt, ugyanis először a "kisebb" argentin oldalon vízeséseket mutatták meg. Onnan kellett feljebb sétálni egy kilátó felé, ahol az úton egyre jobban kirajzolódtak a nagy vízesés részletei, míg végül a párafelhő és a szivárvány elárulta,hogy jó úton haladunk. Lenyűgöző volt a látvány. Közben az emberek között a park kabala állatai, a coatik kerestek ételmaradekokat, és mint tudjuk, aki keres az vagy talál, vagy ellopja, ami kell neki. Hát ők inkább ezzel a módszerrel dolgoztak. De attól még cukin, kis sipitozó hangon tarháltak mindenkitől, akinél kiszagolták a kaját.
Innen mentünk tovább a világ második legnagyobb vízerőműjéhez az Itaipu-hoz, ami Paraguay és Brazília közös projektje. A konstrukció érdekes. A működtető cég (50-50%-ban) a két országé, vagyis a termelt áramon fele-fele aranyban osztoznak, de brazil pénzből épült meg az egész erőmű. A megtermelt áram Paraguayra eső felének nagyrészét (90%) eladja Brazilianak, amely azt "betudja" a paraguayi "törlesztő részletbe". 2025-től várhatóan Paraguay kifizeti az utolsó részletet is (árammal) és attól fogva Brazilia át fogja utalni a neki járó díjat. Az itt megtermelt áram Brazilia fogyasztásának 20%-át adja kb, Paraguay pedig a teljes előállított áram felének 10%-ából gyakorlatilag az egész ország áramellátását biztosítani tudja. Hát ekkora ez az erőmű...

Today was an other fantastic day. In an organised tour we first visited the Parque de Aves, which is a zoo and shelter for endangered bird species. So many and beautiful tucans, parrots, emus and other species, I haven't seen in my life. They were flying above my head, sometimes touching it gently with their feathers. I had a small chat with of them. I said "olá" and he responded "olá", this discussion went on for a while, then it seemed he got bored by me. :-) there was a special tree just for the hurt and freed lories (from animal-traffickers), which are not able to fly. However they were equally loud as the others. :-)
Then we continued to the Iguaçu falls. The guide first showed us some "smaller" falls on the Argentinian side. We had to walk to the direction of the big fall. After a while we realised parts of a rainbow and vapour-clouds above the trees. Finally we got there and the view astonished everyone. Meanwhile coatis, emblematic animals of the park, were running between the people and searching some extra food. I say extra, because some are very fat... They are little thiefs and sometimes aggressive as well, one of them wanted to take out the sandwich of my hand, while siting at the table with others. In spite of this they are very cut how they are asking for food.
Our next stop was the second biggest water-energy plant of the world, the Itaipu, which lies between Paraguay and Brazil. The physical and the financial construction of the plant is equally interesting. The energy company is 50-50% shared by the two country, however the plant was financed totally by Brazil. In exchange Paraguay is paying with energy, until it pays its debt. From the 50% share of the energy Paraguay supports nearly all its energy needs and the rest (90%) is being sold to Brazil. The calculation shows that at 2025 Paraguay will clear its debt, and Brazil can start to transfer the money for the electricity. Itaipu covers now the 20% of the electricity, Brazil consumes. The plant is simply huge...
