From yesterday evening on the rain does not want to stop. It's raining like I were in the tropics. :-) So, because of the whether and because I am a guy thirsty for knowledge I went to the Brazilian Academy of Literature. The headquarter of the Academy is in a building made for the 1922 EXPO, as the French pavilon, based on the plans of the Small Trianon Palace in Versailles. The French state later donated the building to the Academy. Among the member of the academy there are some ministers and a former President of Brazil.
After a small walk I arrived to the Museum of National History, which tries to show the whole history of Brazil. The pre-Columbian part was quite all right, I liked the most the exposition handling with the independence war and the times of the Brazilian Empire. But the part about the republican Brazil was not good, sadly I could not learn anything about the 20. century of Brazil.
On my way home I made some shopping at the fruit shop of the corner, I put my shirts into the laundry and bought a chicken-pie on the street for lunch, which was that horrible, I throw it away after two bites. Not everything new is up to my taste. :-)
In the afternoon I had a very interesting meeting on the most prestigious higher education institute of Brazil, the Fundação Getulio Vargas. I hope we can build a fruitful and longterm cooperation both with the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade and with the Corvinus University of Budapest.
